Finding Inspirations for Color
April 15, 2013

Whether you're starting a new web design project or just trying to pick out colors to better coordinate your home; we've unearthed some resources for you. Finding the perfect color scheme for a project might come easy for some, but for the rest of us there is hope. There are many ways to find a great color palette without having to put forth much effort. We're going to give you a couple of tips we use when searching for color.

There are plenty of online tools you can use to create new color palettes, browse already created palettes, and even create palettes from images. One of our favorite tools is Adobe's Color website found at http://color.adobe.com. Adobe Color allows you to pick a base color while it calculates complimenting colors based on a variety of criteria.

Some other sites to explore:

COLOURlovers – This is an excellent resource for not only color palettes, but for a variety of other things that can assist you in your designs. They have an extensive database of seamless patterns that you can color right from their site. If you aren't interested in coloring a current pattern, use their pattern and shape maker to create your own. It's a very fun tool to use even if you don't have a particular goal in mind.

COLRD.com - An interesting site that contains a wealth of user submitted patterns, colors palettes created from images, and gradients.

Colllor – A great site if you're looking to various tones and shades based off of a HEX color code.

DeGraeve's Color Palette Generator – A quick an easy way to grab colors from an image hosted online. Simply put in the image's URL and it generates a scheme with dull and vibrant colors.
